Search Help
Location / Community
Our database can find listings that are located close to you or find listings that serve your geographical area.
- If you are seeking a physical office or service location select “Located Near”
- If you are seeking a program that provides services to you, select “Serving” (this will display listings that are located anywhere in Ontario and provide services to your location)
Click on the placemark icon and our website will attempt to retrieve your location from your browser or using your IP address. This is not always 100% accurate. If it does not show you your correct location you can enter a community name or postal code in the location field. As you type a community name our website will show you suggestions that you can click on.
Alternatively you can use the “Location List” and select a community from the list (see below).
Keyword Search or Topic Search
You can search by keyword or by a predefined topic. Keywords can be the name of the organization, the program or any other words that are relevant to what you are looking for. Suggestions will appear as you start typing. In the example below the word “Food” was typed into the search.
We have organized our listings into topics to make searching easier. Click on “Topic Search” to view the available topic categories seen in the image below. To perform a topic search simply click on one of the icons.
Once you click on an icon, you are then brought to the “subtopic” search. At this point, indicate exactly what type of program under that topic you are looking for. In this example, the Food icon was selected.
Once you click a subtopic you are brought to the advanced search options.
Advanced Search Options
You can filter results to within a specified distance of your location and you can also sort the results by best match, proximity or in alphabetical order. Once you have selected their advanced search options (or if you choose to keep the default advanced search seen in the image below) click “search” again.
Search Results
Once you submit the search form you will be presented with a list of results. You can toggle to map view to see a map of the results. You can return to the search form by clicking on the Search button.
You can expand the information displayed by clicking on “Show More” and access the full service listing by clicking on “Listing Details” or the title of the listing.
At the bottom of the list or map page, you may have an option to load more results. Clicking on this will retrieve the next batch of results.
To view further information about the programs in your list, click on the title of the program.
This will expand and provide you the program description, eligibility, application process and more!
By clicking on “Agency” you can access information about the agency, other programs available from the agency and site locations.
See the result of the “Agency Profile” below:
Suggest an Update
If you find a listing that is showing incorrect information, you can suggest an update to us. At the bottom of each service listing you can click on “Suggest Update”. This will bring up a form where you can enter the corrections.
Clipboard
The clipboard feature allows you to save a customizable list of programs that can be shared through a web link. Click here to see a sample of a completed clipboard.
To create your own clip board you have to complete a search for programs. Once the search has loaded you will see the option to “View Clipboard.”
Once you click “View Clipboard” the following screen will appear and provide you the option to “Create New Clipboard.”
Now you will be able to preform another search for the programs that you would like added to this clipboard.
You will perform your search and click the “+Clipboard” next to each program you would like added to this clipboard.
Once the program is added to the clipboard it will appear like the image below.
If you browse through further pages or preform another search, the programs that have already been added will then appear like the following image. Also, to remove an item you can click on the “–Clipboard”
Another way to modify your clipboard is to click on the “View Clipboard” option again.
Now you will be able to view all of the programs that you have added to your clipboard. If you are done modifying and are satisfied with your list, you can click “Share.”
This will give you the option to name your clipboard and send it to your own personal email address.
Once you click “save” an email will be generated with two different links. One link you can copy and paste in a different email to share with someone else, and the other link allows you the option to continue to edit your clipboard.
